As a mama, I feel like the most asked question is, ‘how do you manage it all?’ But, little do they know, is honestly we really don’t. I mean at least for me, it may look like I’m managing it all, but I’m really just winging it. Everyday I’m winging it or learning from the day before.
Being a mama is really hard work. It’s not the first time y’all have heard me say it, and I can promise y’all, it won’t be the last. I’ll even say it again, mama life is really hard. It’s physically and emotionally demanding, exhausting, but at the same time it is truly the most rewarding.
Regardless of where you are on this road of motherhood journey, or how you got here, I know that one thing is for certain, we carry a mental load. We lug around this burden and privilege of heart-bursting kind of love. The kind of love that makes us vulnerable. The kind of love that also makes us powerful.
We do it all mama. We care about everything. We give everything we have. And when things get hard and or fall apart, we dig down deep and find the strength and courage we never knew we had. You know why mama? Because we have grit and we persevere.
Yes, there will be days where we can’t do it all despite how hard we try. But on those days when it becomes too much, our love keeps us trying and our grit keeps us moving, because that’s what it means to be a mama, and there is nothing like a mama on a mission.
So this Mother’s day and every day, always remember that you’ve got this, we’ve got this. You are a remarkable woman who created this amazing little person and raising them to be good humans. Motherhood is far from an easy job, but it’s nothing we can’t handle. Remember to give yourself grace and you are absolutely not alone.
To all of you amazing mamas, Happy Mother’s Day.
