Picking out cute summer outfits has been one of my favorite parts about having Mason. There is just something about toddler flip flops that make me go “aww” and their little swim trunks couldn’t possibly be any cuter. There’s still a couple of months left of this summer weather and so I wanted to partner with Once Upon A Child again to share some cute beach and pool looks for your little one! Even though there is nowhere to travel to, you can still join me in pretending I am going on a fun summer vacation. We got to keep smiling’ somehow right? And that for me lately has been dressing Mason in the cutest summer outfits and toddler swim clothes.
Red, White & Baby: Dressing Mason up for themed holidays such as the 4th of July or even Labor Day can be fun and easy. You can always mix and match between blue shorts, paired with white or red tees, but my favorite is to make the outfit more festive by finding shirts that have stars or stripes on them.
Tropical Tot: Summer is meant for pieces that remind me of tropical getaways, so lately I have been loving anything tropical or with beach prints. Fish is another great print for summer that Mason and I both like. Tropical swim trunks can also work as bottoms and be paired with tanks or tees if you are going to the beach or pool but not necessarily going swimming.
Summer Must-Haves: In my opinion, these are the top three summer basics that every toddler needs:
- Short Sleeves – There should be a mixture of casual and semi-formal short sleeve shirts. Polos are the best because they are slightly dressy and can be mixed with formal clothing. Button downs are great too, but they can be a little bit of work getting them on a wiggling toddler.
- Slip-on Water Shoes – Obviously these are intended for water, but we use them for everyday wear since Mason’s feet tend to sweat. The water shoes are plastic, open, and airy. I typically go with a gray or black pair so then you can wear them with almost any outfit.
- Accessories – With little ones, I suggest getting a couple of pairs of sunglasses and bucket hats that are not only stylish but that also protect their eyes and head from the sun.
These looks are all centered on boy’s clothing since I am a #boymama, but you can still use the fundamentals for dressing your little girl, as well. Overall, kids’ summer style should feel light, airy, and manageable.
